A very playable arrangement of the 4th movement of Mahler's Symphony No. 2 (“Resurrection”). This is the perfect selection for church services especially around the Easter season as well as for concert settings.
This is the 4th movement (Urlicht (Primeval Light) – from the Knaben Wunderhorn) from Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 (“Resurrection”)
The text, which is also used in Mahler’s “Das Knaben Wunderhorn” talks about the desire of returning to God for an “eternal, blissful life.”
“I am from God and will return to God! God will give me a candle to light me to the bliss of eternal life.” Mahler described the text as an expression of “the questioning and agonized searching of the soul for God and its own eternal existence.”
